Owl on the Roof Theatre is searching for four actors to join us for an R&D for their new production: ‘The Children of Lir’. The show is a reimagining of the Celtic tale of Lir and his cursed children. This adaptation explores the fantastical elements through surrealism and horror tropes. The show is inspired by works such as Hereditary, Haunting of Hill Manor, Metamorphosis and movement similar to Punch Drunk. The character breakdown is as follows:
Aoife - Female presenting, playing age 30-38. After the loss of her sister Aoife is a woman on the edge of crisis. Strong physicality/ movement skills.
Lir - Male presenting, playing age 38-48.
A widower left with his four children. Struggling to manage his and his children’s grief.
Orla - Female presenting, playing age 18-20.
The eldest of four, grappling with her grief and resentment over growing up too fast to help take care of her siblings. Strong physicality/ movement skills.
Bodh - Male presenting, playing age 55-60+.
The granddad of the family. A warm and welcoming presence and talented storyteller.
